Gulls Take Down Lyons 3-1 in Non-Conference Play

NORTON, Mass. -  The Endicott women's volleyball team defeated Wheaton (Mass.) 3-1 on Thursday in non-conference action on Thursday night on the road.

The Gulls dropped a tight first set 22-25 before winning the next three 25-12, 25-18 and 25-23 to improve to 18-7 on the year.

Graduate outside Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.) finished the night with a match-high 17 kills as she hit .308 (17-5-39) while picking up seven digs and an ace. Fellow graduate Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) posted five kills on nine error-free attempts to hit .556 while finishing with a match-best six blocks (2S - 4A). Senior Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) finished with seven kills on 20 swings while adding four assist blocks of her own.

Setters Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) finished with 16 and 12 assists, respectively, as McGrath added 11 digs to finish with the only double-double in the match.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 8-4 all-time against Wheaton, as the Gulls have won three straight over the Lyons.
  • Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) finished with a match-high 13 digs, while Alexandra Tecun (Hawthorne, Calif.) finished tied for second with 12.
  • The Gulls are now 6-3 away from The Nest this season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (18-7) finishes the regular season on the road on Saturday, October 29 with a tri-match against Gordon and Plymouth State. Wheaton (11-14) will finish the regular season by hosting Clark on Saturday.
