BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team remained undefeated in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with a 3-1 win over Salve Regina on Thursday night. With the win, Endicott improves to 11-3, 4-0 in CCC play, while Salve Regina falls to 11-6, and 3-1 in CCC play.
The Gulls took down the first set, 25-21, before dropping the second by a 20-25 final to even the match at 1-1. The third would see the two teams go to extra points to decide which team held a 2-1 advantage, and it was the Gulls who claimed the 26-24 victory, before an emphatic 25-16 fourth-set win to claim the 3-1 win in the match.
Graduate student Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.) led all players with 20 kills as she finished 20-5-47 (.319) while chipping in seven digs defensively. Libero Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) led all players defensively, posting a match-high 20 digs in the win, while freshman setter Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) finished second with 15, while also finishing with a team-high 23 assists. Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) registered 17 assists and seven digs in the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kelsey Sanborn (Londonderry, N.H.) and fellow freshman Sophie Breitenbach (Newport, R.I.) each finished with eight kills in the match, good for second-best on the team.
- Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) posted five kills and three blocks from the middle.
- Endicott is now 26-4 all-time against Salve Regina, as the Gulls have won the last 11 straight meetings between the two programs.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (11-3, 4-0 CCC) plays host to AVCA No. 14 Hope at 6:00 PM tomorrow night, while Salve Regina (11-6, 3-1 CCC) plays host to Suffolk on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
