Gilbert Gets 1000th Career Kill as Endicott Sweeps WIT 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team swept Wentworth 3-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play to improve to remain undefeated in CCC play at 7-0, while improving to 16-7 overall. The loss drops the Leopards to 13-9 overall and 5-2 in league play.

Highlighting the win was the career accomplishment of graduate student Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.), who collected her 1,000th career kill early in the first set. The outside would end the match with a team-leading eight kills and six digs in the sweep.

Fellow graduate student Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) produced a match-high .778 average after finishing with seven kills on nine error-free swings as she also posted a match-high four blocks (1S - 3A), while adding two aces.

Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) and Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) finished with 14 and 13 assists, respectively, as the duo, operating the 6-2 offense, guided the Gulls to hit .247 on the day (31-10-85).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gilbert becomes the ninth student-athlete in program history to surpass the 1,000 career kill mark and the first since Emma Mancini '19.
  • Libero Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) finished tied for the match-high with 10 digs.
  • Sophie Breitenbach (Newport, R.I.), Megan Murphy (Danvers, Mass.), and Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) all recorded four kills and three blocks in the sweep.
  • Endicott is now 25-0 all-time against Wentworth.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (16-7, 7-0 CCC) travels to Curry on Tuesday night for a CCC contest while Wentworth (13-8, 5-2 CCC) travels to Nichols for a CCC contest.
