Women's Soccer Tops Roger Williams, 2-1

BRISTOL, R.I. — The Endicott women's soccer team defeated Roger Williams, 2-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Tuesday evening at Bayside Field.

The Gulls dominated possession in the first half, and eventually got on the board in the 38th minute with Eliza Walker's (Marshfield, Mass.) third goal of the season following a Chloe Bauman (Southington, Conn.) free kick that was sent into the box. Walker tracked down the loose ball and sent it through a crowd of players to put the Gulls on top.

Bauman then doubled the Endicott lead with a booming shot from 40 yards out, clearing the Roger Williams goalkeeper with a beautiful deep shot in the final 35 seconds of the half, sending the Gulls to the break with a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, the Blue and Green staved off a potential Hawks comeback attempt, as the hosts were able to find a tally in the 76th minute but were prevented from notching anything further before the buzzer sounded.

The Gulls defense was outstanding once again in the matchup. The back line of Madeline Barbieri (Cranston, R.I.), Michelle Donahue (Melrose, Mass.), Carly Matthews (Suffield, Conn.), and Bauman limited the Hawks to just two total shots in the contest. Each defender logged 90 minutes from the back line.

Samantha MacCormack (Danvers, Mass.) improved her record to 4-1-1 with one save in the road win.

  • Hannah Lord (Bedford, N.H.) set up Bauman's bomb of a goal with a drop off pass prior to the shot.
