BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott women's soccer sophomore midfielder Callie Neils (Brentwood, N.H.) has been named the Conference of New England's (CNE) Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
In Endicott's season-opening 1-0 shutout win over Lasell on Saturday, Neils was a vital contributer to a Gulls defense that limited the Lasers to just two shots (zero on goal) in the match. She logged 81 minutes in the contest, and posted three shots for the Gulls (two on goal).
On Sunday, she once again controlled the midfield play in the Gulls' 3-1 home victory over North Central (Ill.). The sophomore played 62 minutes against the Cardinals, as Endicott handed them their first loss in regulation since September 13, 2023 (#21 nationally ranked Calvin).
This is the first time in Neils' career that she has won the CNE Defensive Player of the Week award.
