MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Endicott women's ice hockey team fell to No. 1 nationally ranked Middlebury, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Tournament at Kenyon Arena.
The Panthers potted at least one goal in every period (P1: 13:55 | P2: 2:45, 16:19-PP | P3: 7:02-PP) to keep their perfect season intact at 25-0-0 overall.
In goal for the Gulls, Michaela O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.) recorded 25 saves in her 15th start of the season (10-4-1 l 18-4-1 career).
BEYOND THE BOX
- Today's game was Endicott's second appearance in the NCAA Tournament since the program was elevated to varsity status in 2015-16 (third berth, did not play during 19-20 season due to COVID).
- The Gulls have won 19 or more games in five out of seven seasons in program history (when counting shortened 2020-21 season).
- Middlebury has won all eight matchups against Endicott in the all-time series.
- The Panthers are a perfect 16-0-0 on their home ice this year.
WHAT'S NEXT
No. 1 Middlebury (25-0-0) will host No. 3 Elmira in the semifinal round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship on Friday, March 18 (time TBD).
No. 8 Endicott sees its season come to a close at 19-5-1.
