Men's Ice Hockey Downs Becker, 5-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Becker, 5-1, on Friday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. 

The Gulls got on the board first via the power play through Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.). Simons took the puck in his own zone, skated through two defenders in the neutral zone, and then buried a shot from the left face-off circle to give Endicott a 1-0 lead at 9:50. 

Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.) then gave the Gulls another power play goal at 13:41 to push their lead to 2-0 with a wrist shot from the right circle. 

In the second frame, it was more of the same for the Gulls. Thomas Albert (Reading, Mass.) made it 3-0 at 16:22 and Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.) gave Endicott a four-goal lead at 18:50. 

Meanwhile, Albert rounded out the scoring for the Gulls with a goal at 12:10 of the third period. 

In goal, Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) made 11 saves in net to improve to 19-4-0, while Elijah Harris (Haverhill, Mass.) stopped three shots in the third period.   

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Endicott is currently receiving 18 votes in the latest USCHO.com Division III Coaches Poll. 
  • The Gulls are 11-0-0 all-time against the Hawks. 
  • Azan Dorsett (McKinney, Texas), Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.), James Winkler (York, Maine), Jacob Gammelgaard (Esbjerg, Denmark), Mitch Shaheen (North Andover, Mass.), and Elliott Clemmons (Rochester, N.Y.) all registered assists tonight for the Gulls. 
  • The Gulls dominated the flow of the game, outshooting the Hawks 55-15 and winning 65% of the faceoffs in the contest. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (19-5-0, 15-2-0 CCC) will wrap up their regular season at Curry, on Saturday with puck drop scheduled for 4:50 PM. Becker (10-15-0, 3-9-0 CCC) will wrap up their regular season when they host the University of New England at 1:10 PM.
