Liponis, Wladkowski Named To ABCA Region 2 All-Defensive Team

ABCA RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott infielders TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) and Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III Region 2 All-Defensive Team for the first time in their careers.

The shortstop/third base combo aided the Gulls to the No. 1 fielding percentage (.979) and earned run average (2.99) in D3 baseball this season.

Liponis led all Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) fielders in assists with 121 over 50 games played (nearly 2.50 per contest).

The sophomore shortstop boasted a .952 fielding percentage on 188 total chances, including 58 putouts, his league-leading 121 assists, nine errors, and 19 double plays.

Liponis accomplished this behind a career year at the plate, dispelling any notions of a "sophomore slump" while playing the most premier position on the diamond.

His career-best offensive numbers this season included: batting average (.307, +.62), on-base percentage (.398, +.50), slugging percentage (.531, +.180), runs (47, +8), doubles (15, +7), triples (5, +5), home runs (6, +2), RBI (53, +16), walks (26, +11), strikeouts (23, -14), stolen bases (7, tied), caught stealing (1, -1), total bases (102, +36), extra-base hits (26, +14).

Meanwhile, Wladkowski ranked sixth among all CCC fielders and first in his position group with 95 assists.

The junior third baseman registered a .964 fielding percentage on 137 total chances, including 37 putouts, 95 assists, five errors, and 11 double plays.

From March 18 to April 16, Wladkowski converted 41 straight chances (10 PO, 31 A) without an error at third helping the Gulls to a 16-2 record (10-1 CCC) during that span.

Wladkowski shuffled between second and third base for the first 15 games of the season before locking up his spot at the hot corner on March 27. Overall, Endicott went 37-4 in his starts at third base.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott posted a 47-4 overall record, a 13-1 conference mark, and a perfect 25-0 record at home.

The Gulls captured their third straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, won the Mansfield Regional Championship, and swept No. 6/7 Johns Hopkins (7-5, 10 inn. | 5-2) at home to punch their ticket to the College World Series for the second straight season.

At the NCAA Division III Championship, Endicott secured its first-ever victory on the game's biggest stage by defeating No. 9/12 Pomona-Pitzer, 7-6, in walk-off fashion on Saturday, June 1.

Additional milestones for this year's squad include a program record 47 wins, becoming the first varsity sport in school history to earn a No. 1 national ranking, and a third straight New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) D3 Team of the Year award.
