No. 2 Baseball Routs Webster, 12-2

AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The No. 2 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team opened its spring break trip to Florida in grand fashion, as the Gulls defeated Webster, 12-2, in seven innings (mercy rule) on Saturday morning.

WP (3-0): Jordan Gottesman (Acton, Mass.) – 6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
LP (0-1): Wes Carter (Hoover, Ala.) – 1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

The Gulls produced a nine-run second inning and never looked back in the contest.

Junior second baseman Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) started the rally with a single to right field, and was chased in by a Brendan O'Neil (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) RBI double to right.

Later in the inning, RBI singles from shortstop TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) and centerfielder Zach Stephenson (Mansfield, Mass.) that pushed Endicott ahead, 4-0.

After a Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) bases loaded walk, Wladkowski recorded his second knock of the inning via a 2-run double to right, plating Notarangelo and Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.).

Senior catcher John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) singled in the final run of the inning to finish off the 9-run frame.

From there, Gottesman handled the rest, as he carved up seven Gorloks via the punchout in his six innings of work.

Sophomore right-hander Ryan Walton (Boylston, Mass.) made his first appearance of the season and tossed a 1-2-3 seventh inning for the Blue and Green.

The Gulls walked off via the mercy-rule thanks to Wladkowski's fourth hit of the day (double to center) in the bottom half of the seventh.
