No. 1 Baseball Edges SUNY Cobleskill, 5-3

DAVENPORT, Fla. — The No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team rallied past SUNY Cobleskill for a thrilling 5-3 victory at NERP Field 2 on Thursday afternoon.

WP (2-0): Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) — 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 K
LP (1-2): Adam Champlin (South Kortright, N.Y.) — 1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Brady Stuart (Hudson, Mass.) toed the rubber for the Blue and Green and delivered a dominant 6.2 IP. He limited Cobleskill to two earned runs, four hits, one walk, and punched out a career-high 12.

With the Gulls trailing by a run in the bottom of the seventh, Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) cranked a go-ahead two-run shot down the left field line. The homer was his second of the season, and his second in the last three games.

After the Fighting Tigers knotted the score at three in the top of the eighth, the Blue and Green rallied once again in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead. The late rally was sparked by the freshmen, as centerfielder Brenden Walsh (Reading, Mass.) started the rally with an RBI single through the left side of the infield to drive in pinch runner Caleb Clark (Gloucester, Mass.) from second base.

James Benestad (Northborough, Mass.) followed up with an RBI base knock through the right side of the infield, scoring AJ Hamm (Shrewsbury, Mass.) from second.

After obtaining the lead, Bagshaw pitched a scoreless ninth to lock up the 11th win of the year for the Blue and Green.
