No. 1 Baseball Sweeps Curry, 11-2 and 12-2

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team swept Curry, 11-2 and 12-2, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader action at North Field on Saturday afternoon.

GAME ONE: Endicott 11, Curry 2

WP (5-0): Jordan Gottesman (Acton, Mass.) - 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K
LP (1-1): Michael Hutchko (Whitman, Mass.) - 2.1 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

The Blue and Green notched 11 unanswered runs and never looked back in game one.

Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) began the offensive surge with a three-run homer to left field giving the Gulls a 3-1 advantage after the first inning. 

Meanwhile, Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) guided the offense throughout the rest of the game with his four-for-five performance, including a solo blast, double, and four runs batted in (triple shy of the cycle). 

On the hill, Gottesman logged seven scoreless frames and limited the Colonels to two earned runs on just four hits in the start (9 K). Brady Stuart (Hudson, Mass.) relieved him in the eighth and tossed two scoreless frames (0 H, 0 BB, 3 K).


GAME TWO: Endicott 12, Curry 2 (7 inn.)

WP (4-0): John Connolly (Attleboro, Mass.) - 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
LP (1-2): Coleman Dyer (Sterling, Mass.) - 4.2 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 2 K

Knotted at two through the first two innings, Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) gave the Gulls a 3-2 lead with an RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the third. 

From there, the Gulls continued to pile on runs throughout the rest of the contest behind Connolly's career-high seven innings pitched on the mound.

Highlighting the offensive efforts were Frammartino (4-for-4, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored), TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) (4-for-5, 3 RBI, one run scored, two doubles, triple), and Pacheco (2-for-3, 2 RBI).

Liponis eventually walked off the game with a 2-RBI triple to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Wladkowski from second base and Brenden Walsh (Reading, Mass.) from first. The 10-run mercy-rule brought the game to an end.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott holds a 37-18 advantage in the all-time series, and has won each of the last six.
  • Pacheco's four hits in game one tied a career-high.
  • Liponis and Frammartino each set career-highs with their four hit performances in game two.
  • Connolly retired the last nine batters he faced.
  • The two games featured a combined six home runs (two for Endicott, four for Curry).

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 1 Endicott (17-1, 5-0 CCC) travels to Gordon on Tuesday, April 2 for a 3 PM first pitch. Curry (3-12, 0-2 CCC) travels to Roger Williams for a 3 PM first pitch on Tuesday.
