CCC TOURNAMENT: No. 1 Baseball Rallies, Defeats Fifth-Seeded WNE, 9-5

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 1 nationally ranked and top-seeded Endicott baseball team opened up its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament with a 9-5 win over fifth-seeded Western New England on Thursday afternoon at North Field.

WP (7-0): Charlie Hale (Brookline, N.H.) — 3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
LP (2-1): Troy Donohue (Wilbraham, Mass.) — 6.2 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K

The Gulls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third after a John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) RBI groundout, a Brendan O'Neil (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) RBI double, and a TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) two-run tape-measure shot to left center.

Jordan Gottesman (Acton, Mass.) got off to a quick start, whiffing seven Western New England batters through the first four innings. However, the Golden Bears touched him up for a five spot in the fifth, taking a 5-4 lead in the contest.

They held that lead until the bottom of the seventh, when the Blue and Green eventually sparked a five-run rally of its own. Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) capitalized on a bases-loaded opportunity with a sac fly to left field, giving the Gulls a 6-5 lead. Later in the inning, Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) singled up the middle for his third hit of the game and drove in two more runs to give the Gulls a comfortable 9-5 lead through seven.

From there, the bullpen contingent of Hale and Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) combined to shut out the Golden Bears the rest of the way and seal the 9-5 win for the Gulls.
