EASTLAKE, Ohio — The No. 1 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team will be facing off against the 2023 College World Series champion Lynchburg in its first contest of this year's College World Series. The game is scheduled for a 1:15 PM first pitch at Classic Park.

Here's a preview of the Gulls' first 2024 CWS matchup.


FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Gulls are the one seed throughout CWS play, while Lynchburg is the eight seed.
  • This is the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams, and the first since 2006. Lynchburg holds the 2-1 edge in the all-time series.
  • The Hornets are 35-15 this season and are currently riding a 10-game winning streak. They rank T-31 nationally in doubles (100), 35th in home runs (43), and 42nd in stolen bases (100).
  • The defending champs returned five of their nine starters from last year's squad.
  • Endicott ranks tops in the nation in ERA (2.77), WHIP (1.10), fielding percentage (.982), hits allowed per nine innings (6.62), wins (46), win percentage (.958), and longest active win streak (23). WHAT'S NEXT

The winner of the Lynchburg/Endicott matchup will face the winner of Misericordia/Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, June 1st at 1:15 PM.

The losing teams in Friday's matchups would square off prior to the winner's matchup at 10 AM on Saturday, June 1st.

The CWS is a double-elimination format that features two brackets made up of four teams each. The two teams remaining from Bracket One and Bracket Two will then play in a best-of-three National Championship Series scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 and Thursday, June 6.
