Women’s Tennis Falls To Southern New Hampshire, 5-2

HOOKSETT, N.H. — The Endicott women's tennis team fell to NCAA Division II opponent Southern New Hampshire, 5-2, on Tuesday evening at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.

Today's match was played in conjunction with NCAA Division I/II rules which only award one point for winning the doubles portion of the match (best of three equals one point). This is in contrast to NCAA Division III rules which award one point for each doubles flight won by a team.

Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) / Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) turned in an impressive 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles despite seeing the Penmen take the doubles point.

In singles, Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) won a gritty match at No. 4 by a 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 score, while the Gulls' other point came at No. 5 singles via retirement.

"We ran some more aggressive plays in doubles and it yielded some nice points," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "It's always nice to play a challenging D2 team."
