CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Women’s Tennis Completes Three-Peat In 5-0 Win Over Nichols

BEVERLY, Mass. — The top-seeded Endicott women's tennis team claimed its third straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title with a hard-fought 5-0 victory over rival Nichols College on Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Tennis Courts.

The Gulls swept doubles for the ninth time this fall to take a commanding 3-0 lead into singles.

The doubles pairings for Endicott included Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) / Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) at No. 3 (8-6), Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) / Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) at No. 1 (8-5), and Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) / Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) at No. 2 (8-4).

From there, the Gulls sealed the shutout in singles against the No. 3 Bison with convincing wins at No. 5 and No. 6.

Berler notched Endicott's fourth point with a 6-1, 6-3, while before Henry clinched the title behind a 6-3, 6-1 score.

"Big thanks to Brian Wylie and the athletic department for supporting us through everything. There's always more work to be done, but, for today, we will celebrate."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott won its ninth CCC title in program history (2008, 2011-15, 2021 fall, 2021 spring, 2022)
  • Today's match was the tenth meeting in the CCC Championship between the two teams (Endicott leads the all-time series 6-4).
  • The Blue and Green have never lost the CCC Championship when going undefeated in regular season play (7-0 in 2022-2023, 5-0 in 2020-21, 8-0 in 2014-15, and 2015-16).
  • The Gulls finished 5-0 at The Nest against CCC opponents this season (5-2 overall).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (11-3) has earned the CCC automatic qualifier into the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship Tournament which is scheduled to begin later this spring. Nichols sees its 2022 fall season come to a close at 8-5 overall.
