Women’s Tennis Handles Western New England, 9-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Western New England, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday evening at the Volvo Tennis Courts.

In doubles, the Gulls swept all three flights to carry all the momentum they needed heading into singles play.

At No. 1, Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) / Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) earned a gritty 8-5 triumph. The pairings of Ashley Klauck (Magnolia, Texas) / Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) and Isabela Miani (Southington, Conn.) / Yolanda Mendonca (Albany, N.Y.) also claimed victories at the No. 2 (8-2) and No. 3 flights (8-4), respectively.

Meanwhile, in singles, Molina (No. 4) and Fitzgibbons (No. 5) continued their dominant ways winning by 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-2 scores.

To secure the shutout, the Gulls also received victories from Henry (No. 1, 6-3, 6-0), Hartmann (No. 2, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8), Klauck (No. 3, 6-4, 6-2), and Mendonca (No. 6, 6-3, 6-4) to remain undefeated in conference play (7-0).

"We handled the wind and a tricky opponent pretty well today. We had to make one more ball in most points and needed to stay patient. We were a little hard on ourselves at times, but worked with it nicely," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 6-0 away from The Nest this fall.
  • Molina is undefeated in singles play this season (6-0 overall, 3-0 CCC).
  • Miani and Mendonca claimed their first win as a doubles pairing,
  • Klauck and Molina are now 2-0 in CCC doubles play.

Endicott (9-2, 7-0 CCC) travels to Bates on Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 PM. WNE (3-4, 3-3 CCC) awaits their seeding in next week's CCC playoffs.
