Women’s Tennis Blanks Suffolk, 9-0

BELMONT, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Suffolk, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday night at Belmont Hill.

Brittany Dupuis (Hopedale, Mass.), Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.), and Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) shined for the Gulls as all three student-athletes earned wins in singles and doubles.

Hartmann and Molina teamed up for a swift 8-2 victory at No. 2, while Dupuis and Isabela Miani (Southington, Conn.) were victorious at No. 3 by an identical score.

In singles play, Hartmann registered a gritty 6-4, 7-5 triumph at No. 1 to headline the trio.

Molina made quick work of her opponent at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1), while Dupuis cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 to round out the list of highlights from the Gulls' double-winners.

"We did a nice job setting up offensive patterns and playing with our emotions," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "It was a lot of fun having all 13 of us present for the match tonight."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Ashley Klauck (Magnolia, Texas) recorded her first collegiate victory at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-2).
  • Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) and Yolanda Mendonca (Albany, N.Y.) earned their first wins in singles action this season at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0) and No. 5 (6-2, 6-2), respectively.
  • Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) / Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) improved to 2-1 at No. 1 doubles tonight with their 8-0 triumph.

Endicott (2-1, 1-0 CCC) hosts Salve Regina on Saturday, September 17 at 12 PM. Suffolk (0-3, 0-1 CCC) takes on the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) next Monday at 6:30 PM.
