BEVERLY, MA - Just four days after being named All-New England selections by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the NCAA, Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) and senior captain Caitlin D'Amario (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) were recognized by the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) as New England standouts in 2006.
Along with McGinn and D'Amario, senior Staci Wiencko (Pembroke, MA/Notre Dame Academy) was also recognized by the NEWISA for her outstanding season.
Paula McGinn, a First Team NEWISA selection and a Second Team NSCAA All-Star, was a force upfront for Endicott in 2006. The junior forward scored a team-high 24 goals and three assists, totaling an impressive 51 points. McGinn is an All-New England selection despite missing the Gulls final seven games, including the CCC and NCAA tournaments, after she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Caitlin D'Amario, a Second Team NEWISA selection and a two-time All Region recipient, racked up 13 goals and seven assists for the Gulls this fall. D'Amario notched two goals and two assists over the Gulls final six games.
Senior Staci Wiencko was also awarded for her outstanding season, as the NEWISA placed her on the All-New England Second Team. The senior standout defender was the anchor of an Endicott defense that only allowed 1.07 goals per game (26 total) this past season. Wiencko shined down the stretch for the Gulls, helping backstop Endicott to the NCAA Sectionals for the first time in program history.
