BEVERLY, MA - Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) scored her 24th goal of the year as she helped power the Gulls to a 4-0 win over the University of New England.
McGinn opened the scoring for EC as she took a pass from freshmen Caitlin Flynn (Mattituck, CT/Southold) and ripped a shot past the outstretched arms of UNE goalkeeper Leigh Engel (Richmondville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville).
Although the score remained 1-0 at the end of the first half the Gulls dominated much of the first 45 minutes of play. The Nor'easters played tough defense but EC would break the game wide open in the second half.
Caitlin D'Amario (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) put the Gulls up 2-0 after she scored off a pass from Margreta Weber (Manchester, NH/Manchester West). Shannon Pilsbury (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) would add a third goal for EC as she found the back of the net just two minutes after D'Amario's goal.
Staci DaCruz (Ludlow, MA/Wilbraham Monson) found Kelly Dillon (Franklin, MA/Franklin) inside the UNE penalty area giving the Endicott a 4-0 advantage in the final minutes of play.
Endicott dominated the pace of the game as Weber and Sarah Miller (Nashua, NH/Bishop Geurtin) controlled the play in the midfield while Staci Wiencko (Pembroke, MA/Notre Dame Academy), Meghan Sneigoski (Boxboro, MA/Acton-Boxboro) and Kelly Cosgrove (Sandwich, MA/Sandwich) held the Nor'easters offense in check.
Goalkeeper Tina Loguidice (Hyde Park, NY/F.D. Roosevelt) made three saves to earn the shutout as the Gulls improved to 14-2 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the CCC. Endicott will enjoy a week off as they Gulls do not take to the field again until October 21, when they will take on Curry College at 1:00pm at Endicott Stadium.
