BEVERLY, MA - Endicott senior forward Caitlin D'Amario (East Longmeadow/East Longmeadow) scored in the 76th minutes, giving the Gulls a 1-0 victory over visiting Roger Williams Saturday in a battle of Commonwealth Coast Conference unbeaten teams.
D'Amario was sent in alone for her fourth goal of the season by freshman midfielder Caitlin Flynn (Mattituck, NY/Southold), who put the ball through a RWU defender's legs and onto the foot of D'Amario for the easy one-touch game-winner. Senior captain Kim Shields (Pomfret, CT/Woodstock Academy) originated the scoring opportunity with a cross into the box to Flynn for her third assist this season.
Endicott improved to 5-1-0 overall and 3-0-0 in CCC play behind the shutout win of goaltender Tina Loguidice (Hyde Park, NY/F.D. Roosevelt), who made five saves. The Hawks fell to 4-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference action despite freshman goaltender Jen Garside's (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry) five stops in goal.
The two sides were deadlocked after one half of play and the Roger Williams defense did a great job containing in the EC attack which is led by junior forward Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical). McGinn had a great chance to get the hosts on the board in the 73rd minute when she broke in alone on Garside. But the keeper came off her line to cut down the angle forcing McGinn's shot to rattle off the left post.
Freshman forward Amanda DaCunha (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) played well for the Hawks, firing two strong shots on Loguidice while senior Endicott sweeper Staci Wiencko (Pembroke, MA/Notre Dame) also had a strong game.
Endicott will look to continue its winning ways Wednesday when it travels to Regis College for a CCC contest while Roger Williams will host Rhode Island College Monday afternoon in a non-conference match.
