SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After completing a perfect regular season in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, the Endicott women’s lacrosse team has had two members named as the CCC athletes of the week, announced Tuesday by conference commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

Senior attacker Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while her classmate, goaltender Leah Neff (South Berwick, Maine) was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week.

DeShaw had an outstanding week, capped by a 7-goal output on Saturday in which she netted the 200th goal of her Endicott career. She notched eight points in the 18-7 victory over Nichols and now has 201 career goals, 52 of them this season, which leads the team.

Earlier in the week, DeShaw drilled in five goals and dished out three assists to help lift the Gulls to a 15-4 victory over CCC foe University of New England to hand the Nor’easters its first league loss of the season. She also added another five points off two goals and an assists in a tight 15-14 loss to NEWMAC opponent Babson.

Neff also closed out her final regular season in style by making 11 stops in net and holding Nichols at bay to give Endicott a perfect CCC regular season record. Earlier in the week, she stood up the University of New England attack as she turned away nine shots to stymie the offensive firepower of the Nor’easters.

Neff made eight saves in a 60-minute effort against Babson. She has now made 127 saves on the year and posts a goals against average of just over 9.5.

The Gulls have clinched the top seed in the upcoming CCC women’s lacrosse tournament. They will receive a first-round bye this weekend and will begin defense of their conference title next week. Stay with ecgulls.com for updated info about the Gulls run at another women’s lacrosse title.
