BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women’s lacrosse team handed Western New England a 21-6 loss at Endicott Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as the trio of senior Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) and juniors Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) and Kelly Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.) combined for 19 points against the Golden Bears.

DeShaw finished with four goals and three assists, Davis with five goals and one assist, and Tierney with fours and two assists in the win.

Stellar play between the pipes by senior goalie Leah Neff (South Berwick, Maine) also contributed towards the Endicott win as Neff stuffed nine Western New England shots on goal.  Her six goals allowed was below her season total of 8.93 goals allowed per game.

Western New England fell behind by 10 goals late in the first half, but three straight goals by senior midfielder Katie Toomy (Northborough, Mass.) brought the Golden Bears to within seven at 12-4 just 59 seconds into the second half.  Toomy would finish with tied with Endicott’s Davis for a game-high five goals but Western New England struggled to get offense output from other contributors.  Only Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) was able to produce any offense as she tallied an unassisted goal at the 22:25 mark of the second half.

Tierney opened up the scoring 2:42 into the game on a free position shot for her 22nd goal of the season.  Toomy would answer right back at 24:54 off an assist from sophomore Kelsey Sherman (Buchanan, N.Y.) to tie the game at 1-1.

Endicott kicked their offense into gear and ran off 10 straight goals to take a commanding 11-1 lead.  Other than DeShaw, Davis and Tierney, junior Lauren Todd (Newfields, N.H.), sophomore Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and freshman Caroline Wall (East Sandwich, Mass.) recorded goals during that stretch.

After Toomy’s back-to-back-to-back goals to stop the bleeding, the Gulls responded with three in-a-row including two from Todd.

Endicott would rattle off scoring streaks of four and three before the game would be over.  Sophomore midfielder Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) was able to score two goals late in the game, one on a free position shot and the other, unassisted, to cap off the scoring at 21-6.

Defensively, Campos led all players with three caused turnovers and four draw controls to go along with her four points (goal, three assists).  Todd added two caused turnovers.  Both players had four groundballs which was shy of goalie Leah Neff’s game-high seven.

For the Golden Bears, senior defender Veronica Miano (Southington, Conn.) led her squad with two caused turnovers while Toomy added to her stat line with six draw controls, three groundballs and a caused turnover.

Endicott was near perfect on clear attempts, going 19-for-20 while Western New England was 9-of-14.  On free position attempts, the Gulls were 4-of-6.  Western New England held a 16-12 advantage on draw controls.

The Gulls will face their third nationally-ranked opponent on Tuesday, April 10th as they take on Bowdoin at 7:00 pm at Endicott Stadium.  Western New England travels to Roger Williams on Wednesday, April 11th for a 4:00 pm CCC showdown.
