Davis, DeShaw Included in IWLCA 2012 Academic Honor Roll

BEVERLY, Mass. -- The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced its academic honor rolls on Wednesday, and two members of the 2012 Endicott Gulls team made the list.

Rising senior Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) and recent graduate Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) were both tabbed with the honor, which comes from nominations by individual institutions.

DeShaw, who graduated with a degree in sport management in May, led the Gulls with 58 goals and 28 assists for 86 points. She scored six times in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship game to help Endicott defeat Gordon 20-14 and win their seventh consecutive CCC women's lacrosse championship.

Davis scored 52 goals this year, second on the team and assisted on ten. She led the Gulls with 84 draw controls and also picked up 24 ground balls. She is earning her degree in elementary education.

Both Davis and DeShaw earned numerous postseason awards, including previous selection by the IWLCA as members of the All-Region Teams.

This week, the IWLCA honored 246 student-athletes from 94 different institutions with inclusion in the 2012 Academic Honor Roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically. Among the 246 student-athletes are 67 who were members of teams that advanced to the NCAA tournament, including two from national champion Trinity College, two from national runner-up Salisbury, four from national semifinalist Middlebury and two from national semifinalist Cortland. Twenty-two of the 31 teams that advanced to the NCAA championships are represented on the list.
