DeShaw Scores 200th Goal as Gulls Close Regular Season Undefeated in CCC Play

DUDLEY, Mass. (Apr. 21) – Senior Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) had an eight point day and scored her 200th career goal to lead Endicott to an 18-7 triumph at host Nichols on Saturday in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s lacrosse matchup at Vendetti Field.

Endicott improves to 10-5 and 7-0 in the conference and will prepare for the upcoming CCC Women’s Lacrosse Championship tournament, for which they had already locked up the top seed. The Bison (7-8, 1-6 CCC) complete their 2011-12 campaign with a program-best seven victories.

DeShaw finished the day with seven goals and one helper and now has 201 goals in her Endicott career. Junior Lauren Todd (Newfields, N.H.) scored three times and sophomore Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) and junior Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) each pitched in with a pair of tallies.

Junior Stacia Gino (White River Junction, Vt.) picked up four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Davis and sophomore Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each corralled 5 draw controls on the day.

Nichols senior Chelsea Shaughnessy (Halifax, Mass.), who was one of four players honored in Senior Day ceremonies before the game, recorded a hat-trick for the Bison to go along with five draw controls and two ground balls.
Classmates Emily Yourie (Ellington, Conn.) and Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) each had a goal while Danielle Mott (Cranston, R.I.) was called upon to make six saves. First-year Erica Antonison (Albertson, N.Y.) rounded out the offense with one goal. Sophomore Shelby Aminti (Pepperell, Mass.) came up with a trio of ground balls and sophomore Julie Monroe (Whitman, Mass.) caused a pair of turnovers.

Forand put the Bison on top early with an unassisted goal just 3:01 into the contest. Endicott responded less than two minutes later to even the game through a goal by senior Michelle Loizzo (Longmeadow, Mass.). Two more Gulls markers, including a free position goal by DeShaw, would make it a 3-1 game with 16:47 showing on the scoreboard. Shaughnessy broke up the visitors run with a tally 36 seconds later. DeShaw netted two goals in a three goal spurt by the visitors. Antonison then scored with 11:11 remaining in the frame. At 21:45, Todd one-timed a feed from Loizzo to begin a 3-1 Gull run to end the half.

Endicott potted four goals over 8:42 following the intermission. Shaughnessy used a free position goal to break up the 5-0 run that began late in the first half before a 5-2 run by the Gulls to end the game. Kirsten Thor (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Caitlin Pratt (Bow, N.H.) each tallied late for the Gulls.

Senior Leah Neff (South Berwick, Maine) earned the victory making 11 stops in just over 47 minutes for the Gulls and sophomore Rachel Socolow (Westford, Mass.) collected three saves in relief.
