MILTON, Mass. – Endicott had a six goal lead at halftime and scored the first four goals of the second half to soar past Curry College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s lacrosse action Wednesday night.

Endicott (5-2, 2-0 CCC) got six goals apiece from attackers Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) and Kelly Tierny (South Hadley, Mass.), with Tierny adding two assists to lead all players with eight points.

The Colonels actually got on the board first when sophomore Haley Carey (New Milford, Conn.) netted just over two minutes into the game. Endicott retook the lead as DeShaw and Tierny cashed in on assists from Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) and Lauren Todd (Newfields, N.H.), respectively.

Davis scored four times herself in the game, while Todd added a goal herself, to go with their single assist apiece.

Ana Bottary (Hull, Mass.) tied the game back up for Curry, but Davis, DeShaw and Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.), who led the Gulls with four assists to go with her goal, put Endicott back in the lead for good.

The Gulls scored seven of the last eight goals of the first half, including the final four, started when Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) netted her first of two goals of the night. Campos and senior Michelle Loizzo (Longmeadow, Mass.), who also scored once, co-led the team with two ground balls apiece.

The Gulls outshot their opponents 38-28, though Curry had an advantage in ground balls, 8-5.

Bottary led the Colonels with five goals and one assist, while Carey scored twice and collected two ground balls in the loss.

In a battle of senior goalkeepers, Endicott’s Leah Neff (South Berwick, Maine) got the better of Curry’s Maria Lynch (Billerica, Mass.). Neff made ten saves in the victory while Lynch stopped 14 shots but let 21 by her to suffer the loss.

Endicott will stay in conference play next when they host North Shore Cup rival Gordon College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

The Colonels fall to 3-4 on the year, and have dropped their first two conference matches. They will travel to Boston on March 31st to play a non-conference game with Wheelock (1:00 pm).
