CCC SEMIS: No. 3 Endicott Rallies Past No. 2 Roger Williams In Fourth Quarter, 60-54

BRISTOL, R.I. – The third-seeded Endicott women's basketball team defeated second-seeded Roger Williams, 60-54, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament semifinal round on Thursday evening.

Trailing 48-45 early in the fourth quarter (8:44), Endicott outscored Roger Williams 15-6 down the stretch to come away with the victory. Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) scored the final six points of the game for the Gulls, while Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) chipped in with three points. The trio of Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.), Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.), and Shannon Gilbert (Easton, Conn.) also contributed two points each during the run.

Meanwhile, defensively, Endicott dug in when it mattered most as the Gulls held the Hawks scoreless for a 6:36 span in the fourth quarter after Roger Williams took a slim 51-49 lead at the 6:46 mark of the final frame.

Putnam finished the contest with a game-high 16 points (6-16 FG, 0-2 3PT, 4-6 FT), while Rogers registered 15 and Pratt had 13 to round out the list of double-digit scorers. Morgan Bresnahan (Wilmington, Mass.) also provided four points, a game-high 12 rebounds, three assists, and one block in the win.

  • Endicott improved to 22-18 all-time against Roger Williams.
  • The Gulls are 3-2 in their last five playoff meetings versus the Hawks.
  • Endicott is now 2-0 on the road against Roger Williams this season.
  • The Gulls will play in their fifth conference championship game in program history on Saturday.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 3 Endicott (17-10) will host No. 4 UNE (20-7) in the CCC Championship on Saturday, February 29 at 5 PM.

Fans traveling to Saturday's matchup should please be advised that with an anticipated capacity crowd for this weekend's game that the doors to the Post Sport Science & Fitness Center will be closed and entrance will be refused when MacDonald Gymnasium reaches capacity. Doors will open at 4:00 PM. Please plan accordingly. Bags and backpacks will not be permitted.

Roger Williams sees its 2019-20 season come to a close at 17-10 overall.
