Women’s Basketball Bests Wentworth, 86-47

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Wentworth, 86-47, in league action on Saturday afternoon inside Tansey Gymnasium.

Leading 23-18 at the end of the first quarter, the Gulls put together a 16-0 run over a 5:06 span to start the second and never looked back.

Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.) spearheaded the offensive outburst for the Gulls with six points.

Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) also contributed four points during the run, while Shannon Gilbert (Easton, Conn.) buried a pair of free throws to cap the spurt and give Endicott a 39-18 lead in the process.

From there, Endicott took a 45-20 advantage into the locker room at halftime and eventually wrapped up the victory behind a .438 field goal percentage in the second stanza to push its record to 4-1 in its last five games.

Laugeni finished the matchup with a team-high 12 points, while Olivia Duncan (Essex Junction, Vt.) had 11 and Gilbert compiled 10 to highlight the list of double-digit scorers.

  • Endicott is 32-3 all-time against Wentworth.
  • The Gulls have won 10 straight versus the Leopards dating back to 1/14/2016.
  • Endicott head coach Brittany Hutchinson is two wins away from reaching the 150-mark in her career at The Nest.
  • Hutchinson is currently 148-100 in her time at Endicott (.597, nine seasons).
  • The Gulls gave up a season-low two points in the second quarter (22-2).
  • It also marks the third-largest differential Endicott has produced in a quarter this season.
  • Endicott's bench outscored Wentworth 53-13 (32-12 in the second half).
  • Thirteen student-athletes found their way into the scoring column in today's win.

Endicott (14-10, 11-4 CCC) hosts Curry on Senior Day next Saturday at 1 PM. Wentworth (8-15, 1-13 travels to Western New England on Wednesday, February 19 at 6 PM.
