Roger Williams Slips Past Endicott, 60-57

BEVERLY, MASS. The Endicott women's basketball team fell to Roger Williams, 60-57, in overtime on Saturday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium.

After what was a back and forth first three-quarters of the game, Endicott found themselves down five, (43-39) with over eight minutes remaining. The Gulls stormed back with a 9-2 run over four minutes to earn a 48-45 lead, and set-up a wild finish.

Roger Williams re-took the lead (49-48) with just 1:11 remaining through a Sam Mancinelli (Peabody, Mass.) jump shot.

Endicott then fought back once again gaining a three-point lead, (52-49) after Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.), and Shannon Gilbert (Easton, Conn.) went a combined 4-4 from the free-throw line.

Then, with just 27 seconds left Mancinelli brought the Hawks back again as she buried a three to tie the game at 52 and send it to overtime.

In the overtime period, Roger Williams got off to a quick start scoring the first five points of the period. Endicott brought it within two twice but Roger Williams did just enough to come away with the victory.

Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) paced the Gulls in scoring with 16 points, while Pratt notched a 14 point 10 rebound double-double.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott leads the all-time series vs Roger Williams 21-18
  • This was only the second OT game for Endicott this season.
  • Pratt posted her 5th double-double of the season.
  • Putnam has scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games
  • The Game was tightly contested throughout, as the Gulls and Hawks found themselves tied at 24 after 20 minutes and tied at 52 at the end of regulation.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (12-10, 9-4 CCC) will host Salve Regina at MacDonald Gymnasium on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:30 PM. Roger Williams (14-8, 10-3 CCC) will travel to Gordon College on Tuesday, February 11th, for a 5:30 PM contest.
