Strong Second Half Propels Women’s Basketball Over Salve Regina, 69-48

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team shot 56.0-percent from the field (14-for-25) in the second half to turn away Salve Regina, 69-48, on Tuesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) led all scorers behind a 16-point effort (5-10 FG, 6-6 FT) in addition to three rebounds, a trio of assists, and one steal.

Meanwhile, Mikaela Rogers (Haverhill, Mass.), Shannon Gilbert (Easton, Conn.), and Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) all contributed double-digit points (14, 11, 10) in the victory.

Olivia Duncan (Essex Junction, Vt.) also highlighted the Gulls' on the stat sheet as the sophomore guard notched six points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block.

Leading 36-28 at the break, the Gulls used an 18-5 run to open up the second half and never looked back in the contest.

Gilbert and Putnam guided Endicott with six points apiece, while Rogers added four, and Duncan two to give the Gulls a 21 point lead (54-33) with 3:08 remaining in the third quarter. From there, Endicott built up its lead to as many as 25 points (4:25, 4th quarter) before the final buzzer sounded.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott won its third straight game against Salve Regina.
  • The Gulls dominated in the paint outscoring the Seahawks 38-16.
  • In the second half alone, Endicott outrebounded Salve Regina 22-13 (17 defensive rebounds).
  • Tonight's game only featured three ties and two lead changes.
  • Endicott led the contest for a total 36:53 in tonight's matchup.

Endicott (13-10, 10-4 CCC) visits Wentworth on Saturday, February 15 at 1 PM. Salve Regina (3-19, 3-10 CCC) hosts Gordon this Saturday at 1 PM.
