No. 15 Endicott Dominates Western New England, 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 15 Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Western New England, 8-1, on Friday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

The Gulls opened up an early 1-0 lead 1:28 into the beginning frame on an unassisted tally from Michael Casey (Media, Pa.).

Nearly seven minutes later (8:10), Western New England capitalized on a loose puck in front of the net to bring the contest back to even, 1-1. 

Still in the first period, Primo Self (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and John Goldowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) pushed Endicott ahead by a two-goal advantage, 3-1, with goals coming at 11:06 and 9:53.

Jack Costanzo (Gloucester, Mass.), Jackson Sterrett (Hendersonville, Tenn.), Collin Kleiser (Churchville, Pa.), and James Davenport (Natick, Mass.) all notched assists on the tallies.

Endicott poured on the scoring in the second, bringing its lead to seven, and they never looked back. Domenic Garozzo (Sewell, N.J.) (2), Therien Thiesing (Lynchburg, Tenn.), Kendrick Frost (Lees Summit, Mo.), and Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.) contributed to the barrage. 

Between the pipes, Atticus Kelly (St. Paul, Minn.) made 13 saves on 14 shots in the victory (11-4-0). 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 21-1-1 all-time against the Golden Bears.
  • Garozzo had his third multi-goal game of the season (12/3 vs. Connecticut, 2/7 vs. Nichols).
  • The Gulls outshot Western New England, 70-17.
  • Ryan Willett (Bayville, N.Y.) fell just short of reaching the 100 career points milestone with his two assists tonight (99 career points).
  • Kurapov's two-point performance (1g, 1a) tied him for second all-time on the program points leaderboard (Josh Bowes, 117 points).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (17-7-1, 14-3-1 CNE) has secured the No. 3 seed in the upcoming CNE Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The Gulls will host No. 6 Wentworth in the first round on Wednesday, February 26 at 7 PM. Western New England concludes its season with a record of 5-18-2 (1-15-2 CNE).
