Fast Start Propels No. 10 Men's Ice Hockey Past Amherst, 6-1

AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 10 Endicott men's ice hockey team downed Amherst, 6-1, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Orr Rink.

Jackson Sterrett (Hendersonville, Tenn.) got the scoring started for the Gulls less than three minutes into the contest as he backhanded the puck past the Amherst goalie. Twenty seconds later, Domenic Garozzo (Sewell, N.J.) made it 2-0 following a Michael Casey (Media, Pa.) face-off win. 

With Endicott leading 2-1 in the second period, Ryan Willett (Bayville, N.Y.) potted a power-play goal that was set up beautifully by Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.) and Primo Self (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Self added a fourth goal for the Gulls that was set up by Kurapov and Willett at the 11:40 mark of the second period.

In the third period, Endicott lit the lamp two more times with Kurpov and Kendrick Frost (Lees Summit, Mo.) finding the back of the net. 

In goal, Atticus Kelly (St. Paul, Minn.) made 31 saves in the victory as his record improves to 6-2-0 on the seson. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 3-1 all-time versus Amherst.
  • Casey won a game-high 17 faceoffs.
  • With his 31 saves, Kelly goes over 1,000 saves in his career.
  • First career goal for Frost.

No. 10 Endicott (9-4-0) visits Connecticut College on Tuesday, December 7 at 6:30 PM. Amherst (4-4-1) hosts Keene St on Sunday, December 5 at 3 PM.
