BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated No. 10 University of New England (UNE), 4-3 OT, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Friday night at the Harold Alfond Forum.
Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.) buried a silky backhanded breakaway goal with 2:34 remaining in overtime to secure the victory.
Tonight's game marked the sixth straight overtime contest between the two squads.
Endicott is 3-1-2 overall in those matchups, which dates back to 2/10/23 (won last two).
Kurapov opened the scoring just 2:02 into the game, while Ty Gaulin (Stratham, N.H.) potted two tallies in the second period (3:19, PP — 12:38) to account for the Gulls' scoring.
Endicott held a 3-1 lead in the middle frame before UNE stormed back with tallies at 13:17 and 19:56 (SH) to eventually force overtime.
Ryan Wilson (Shelton, Conn.) stopped 24 shots in the victory (1-1-0, 20-6-2 career), including a period-high nine saves in the third period.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Tonight's win evened the series up at 9-9-5.
- Gaulin registered his first tally and multi-goal game in a Gulls uniform tonight.
- Jack Costanzo (Gloucester, Mass.) registered his first career points via a primary assist (OT GWG) and secondary assist (Gaulin, 3:19) in the victory.
- Wilson is the fourth goalie in program history to win 20 or more games in his career.
- Kurapov bumped his program record game-winning goals total to 12.
