EAST BOSTON, Mass. — The No. 14 Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Suffolk, 1-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday night at Porrazzo Rink.
John Goldowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) netted the lone goal of the contest with a wrister from just above the left faceoff circle.
James Davenport (Natick, Mass.) initiated the scoring chance when he corralled a neutral zone turnover and fired a blue-line to blue-line cross-ice pass to Jack Costanzo (Gloucester, Mass.), creating an odd-man rush as Suffolk was caught in between a line change.
Costanzo quickly gained the zone and dragged his defender with him, leaving Goldowski wide open to catch and shoot his second career game-winner.
Ryan Wilson (Shelton, Conn.) took care of the rest in net for the Gulls, making 33 saves to lock up his first shutout of the season (4-2-0 record in 24-25 | 7th career shutout | 23-7-2 career record).
The shutout performance also handed Endicott head coach R.J. Tolan his 300th career coaching victory, all at the NCAA Division III level (300-128-33 record | .687 winning percentage).
Tolan has amassed 172 wins in his 10 varsity seasons at Endicott to date (172-54-17 | .743 | 2015-present) and compiled 128 more during his eight-year career at Wentworth (128-74-16 | .624 | 2006-14).
