BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 15 Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Nichols College, 8-2, on Friday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
Endicott overcame an early 1-0 deficit (1st – 3:28) by scoring six unanswered goals from the 13:16 mark of the opening period to the 3:29 mark of the second, giving the Gulls a confident five-goal advantage that held true the rest of the way.
Domenic Garozzo (Sewell, N.J.) found the back of the net three times to lead the Gulls offensively. The hat trick is the first of his Endicott career and 17th in program history.
Andrew Kurapov (Corvalis, Ore.), Jack Costanzo (Gloucester, Mass.), Primo Self (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Ryan Willett (Bayville, N.Y.), and Kendrick Frost (Lees Summit, Mo.) all found the back of the net once in the rout.
Between the pipes, Atticus Kelly (St. Paul, Minn.) made 29 saves on 31 shots (.935) to improve his record to 10-3-0 this season (31-7-5 career) while playing all 60 minutes.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls' first line of Willett (LW), Kurapov (C), and Garozzo (RW) combined for nine total points (5g, 4a).
- Endicott improved to 20-4-0 all-time against Nichols.
- Kurapov and Willett each contributed three points (1g, 2a).
- Willett's three-point performance (1g, 2a) has him five points shy of 100 for his career.
- The Gulls matched their season-high in goals tonight (8-1 win vs. UNE on 11/16/24).
WHAT'S NEXT
No. 15 Endicott (15-6-0, 11-2-0 CNE) visits Nichols (8-10-2, 4-7-2 CNE) tomorrow at 5:40 PM. Saturday's game time was moved up two hours due to an impending snowstorm.
