NCAA QUARTERFINALS: No. 4 Endicott Blanks No. 9 Norwich, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 4 nationally ranked Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated No. 9 Norwich, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

With the win, the Gulls (23-2-2) became the first team in Endicott Athletics & Recreation Department history to punch their ticket into the NCAA Division III Semifinals.

Ryan Willett (Bayville, N.Y.), Noah Strawn (Wareham, Mass.), and Cam Speck (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) all scored in the third period (3:26, 17:30, EN  17:49) to secure the historic victory.

Atticus Kelly (St. Paul, Minn.) was sensational in between the pipes for the Gulls as the sophomore netminder made 25 saves, including several highlight-worthy stops in the first period where he faced a game-high 13 shots. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott earned its first win against Norwich in the all-time series (1-1-3).
  • The Gulls have outscored opponents 51-11 in the third period this season.
  • Endicott improved to 13-1-1 at home.
  • The Gulls avenged a 3-0 loss from earlier this season (10/29/22, second game of the season).

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 4 Endicott (23-2-2) will face No. 2 Hobart (27-2-0) in the NCAA Tournament semifinal round on Friday, March 24 at a time and place to be determined later. No. 9 Norwich sees its 2022-23 season come to a close at 20-7-2 overall.
