BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott rising senior Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.) recently showcased her talents on the global stage when she competed in the World Cup Lacrosse Festival from July 17-21 in Surrey, England. While there, McCarthy represented Endicott as a member of the DIII Elite North Team – which was comprised of players from across New England – in games against Japan, Germany, England, and two other teams from the United States, to name a few.

The World Cup Lacrosse Festival was held in conjunction with the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup at Surrey Sports Park from July 12-22. The 2017 FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup featured 25 nations that competed for the title of World Lacrosse Champions, which was won by the United States over Canada, 10-5. McCarthy was not only able to watch the USA squad win the World Cup over Canada, but she also got the chance to play on the same fields as all the international teams as well.

"It was such a great experience to play my favorite sport against women from around the world who shared my same passion for the game I love," said McCarthy. "It was also amazing to see how large the sport has grown around the world compared to when I first started playing."

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott posted a 14-5 overall record and 8-0 mark in conference play en route to capturing its 10th Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title in program history, and the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. In their 10th appearance as a program in the NCAA Tournament, the Gulls fell to Farmingdale State, 16-14, in the first round.

Endicott also saw eight student-athletes claim All-CCC honors - which included three individuals who earned major conference awards (Coach of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year) - while 11 student-athletes collected CCC Academic All-Conference honors.
