Endicott Ignites For Program-Record 26-2 Win At Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. The Endicott women's lacrosse team ignited for a program-best 26-2 victory over host Wentworth on Monday, April 3 at Sweeney Field in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest made up today from Saturday's snowstorm postponement.

Endicott broke the program record for most points (45) and most goals scored (26) as 13 different Gulls celebrated at least one goal on the day, highlighted by senior midfielder Emily Whitney's (Rye, N.H.) and sophomore Jackie Healy's (Northborough, Mass.) seven points apiece in the game.

Whitney had a season-high four goals and three assists while Healy had a season-high three goals and career-best four assists.

Freshman CCC Offensive Player/ Rookie of the Week Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) chipped in six points (four goals, two assists) to go along with five ground balls and a game-best three caused turnovers.

Junior Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.) also had six points, coming on a goal and a game-high/career-best five assists as the Gulls netted 15 unanswered goals to close out the game for their third game this season with a shutout in a single half en route to their third straight conference win.

  • Endicott is 5-0 in the all-time series versus Wentworth, which dates back to April 2, 2013.
  • Endicott is now on three game win streak — the team's longest of the season so far.
  • 26 goals is a new program-best, eclipsing the previous mark of 25 scored against New England College on April 29, 2008.
  • 45 points and 19 assists are a new program record, besting the 40 points and 18 assists set against Regis on April 17, 2010.
  • Endicott had a 42-4 shot advantage and a 24-16 edge in ground balls.
  • Lacroix, Whitney, and Wentworth's junior goalie Haley Sabino (Topsfield, Mass.) all scooped up a game-high five ground balls.
  • Lennon registered a game-high four draw controls as Endicott tallied a season-high 22 wins on the draw.
  • Two-time reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Week Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) made one save in the first half to pick up her third straight win in her third collegiate start. Senior Maura Grady (Marblehead, Mass.) did not record a save in the second half.
  • Freshman midfielder Emma McDowell (Alexandria, Va.) and freshman attack Alex Fitzgerald (Guilford, Conn.) recorded their first career goals, while sophomore defender Molly McMahon (Hanover, Mass.) and senior defender Chelsea Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) notched their first goals of the season.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Leopards have lost four games in a row.
  • Sabino made seven saves in 32:46 and sophomore Liz Gunning (Fort Salonga, N.Y.) made two stops in 27:14 of work.
  • Sophomore Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) put Wentworth on the board with a marker with 23:32 remaining in the opening half and found the back of the net again at the 16:49 mark.
