BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team used a strong first half to overpower visiting Nichols College, 21-6, Wednesday night at Hempstead Stadium in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
The Gulls built an 8-0 advantage before Nichols got on the board when senior midfielder Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) buried her first of two first half markers for the Bison at the 21:30 mark before Endicott took a 16-2 lead into the break.
Endicott kept the pressure on to begin the second stanza, going up by as much as 16 (18-2) with 26:47 remaining in the game en route to the Gulls' fourth-straight conference victory and second consecutive game scoring at least 20 goals.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Sophomore goalie Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) earned her fourth-straight win (4-0) in goal as she allowed two goals and made three saves before giving way to senior Maura Grady (Marblehead, Mass.) to begin the second half. Grady also stopped three shots.
- Senior midfielder Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.) and senior attack Meghan Lennon (Canton, Mass.) each scored a game-high four goals and assisted on a pair of helpers apiece.
- Lennon now leads the team with 25 goals and 39 points on the year.
- Freshman midfielder Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Ali Campbell (Lakeville, Mass.) each registered a hat trick.
- Junior attack Jess Glenn (Lyme, N.H.) recorded her second-straight multi-goal game with a two tallies tonight.
- Lacroix won a game-high eight draw controls, while Whitney scooped up a game-best four ground balls and caused a team-high/game-high (tied) two turnovers.
FOR THE FOES
- The Bison are now 3-2 on the road this season.
- Marion potted two goals, while junior midfielder Mellissa Lafleur (Chicopee, Mass.) also scored twice for the Bison.
- Lafleur won a team-best six draw controls and scooped up a team-high two ground balls, while senior defender Reilly Flaherty (Bellingham, Mass.) caused a team-high/game-high (tied) two turnovers.
- Nichols used three goalies in the losing effort, as freshman starter Emily Eagan (Hingham, Mass.) was tagged with the loss to fall to 3-8 on the year with a team-high four saves.
NOTES
- Endicott and Nichols met for the 17th time in program history tonight.
- Endicott leads the all-time series, 17-0, including an 8-0 margin at home.
- The Gulls won, 19-7, on the road in the most recent meeting before tonight, on April 20, 2016.
