Springfield Breezes By Endicott In Florida, 11-5

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-5 decision to Springfield College Wednesday morning on a windy day at the National Training Center to wrap up the 2017 Spring Break trip for the Gulls.

Springfield scored two quick goals to begin the game before freshman attack Meghan Dutchyshyn (Cheshire, Conn.) buried her first of a game-high four tallies on the day to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 21:17 mark.

Springfield then exploded for four unanswered goals and took a 9-3 lead into halftime.

It was a tale of two halves, as Endicott applied more pressure on Springfield in the second stanza to battle for two goals apiece in the frame.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 2-1 all-time against the Pride, as the Gulls had won the first two matchups, including a 4-3 win in Beverly, Mass. in the most recent meeting before today on May 8, 2013 in NCAA Tournament First Round.
  • Senior goalkeeper Maura Grady (Marblehead, Mass.) fell to 3-2 on the season as she allowed nine goals and made one stop before sophomore Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) came in and gave up two goals while making five saves in 32:05 minutes of action.
  • Freshman midfielder Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) won a game-best four draw controls.
  • Dutchyshyn leads the Gulls with 14 goals this season (tied career-high with four today) and has three games scoring at least three markers.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Pride led by as much as seven (11-4) with 18:59 remaining in the game.
  • Sophomore midfielder Amanda Nusbaum (Conway, N.H.) and sophomore attack Allie Goddard (Acton, Mass.) registered a hat trick with a team-high three goals each.
  • Sophomore midfielder Taylor Kane (Woburn, Mass.) and junior midfielder Kayla Schroeher (Riverhead, N.Y.) each notched a pair of goals.
  • Junior attack Shelby Corsano (Bourne, Mass.) added her team-leading 13th goal of the season with 4:08 remaining in the second half.
  • Senior goalkeeper Gabby Anderson (Mahopac, N.Y.) made 12 saves in a complete-game effort as she improved to 3-2 on the season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (3-2, 0-0 CCC) takes on No. 14 nationally-ranked Bowdoin in Brunswick, Maine on Wednesday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m.

Springfield (3-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) travels to face No. 15 nationally-ranked Amherst on Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m.
