No. 20 Colby's Strong Second Half Lifts Mules Over Endicott, 13-3

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to the visiting No. 20 Colby College Mules, 13-3,  Tuesday night in non-conference action at Hempstead Stadium.

After twice trading goals to begin the game, junior midfielder Kendall Smith (Glen Ridge, N.J.) started the first of two big runs for the Mules in the contest with a string of five straight Colby scores before the half.

Smith's second tally (game-winner) of a game-high four markers on the night came with 15:36 to go before the breeak to give the Mules a 3-2 advantage they wouldn't relinquish the rest of the way.

Despite trailing just 7-3 at the half, the Gulls couldn't get much going in the second stanza as Colby won all seven draw controls in the period and shut out Endicott in the frame for the first time this season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Senior attack Meghan Lennon (Canton, Mass.) finished with one goal and one assist to lead the Gulls and now leads the team in points this season with 11.
  • Lennon also won a game-high four draw controls.
  • Freshman attack Meghan Dutchyshyn (Cheshire, Conn.) added one goal to match Lennon for the team-lead with eight on the year, while sophomore midfielder Ali Campbell (Lakeville, Mass.) scored her second of the season.
  • Freshman midfielder Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) registered her third  assist of the season.
  • Senior goalkeeper Maura Grady (Marblehead, Mass.) moved to to 2-1 on the season as she made a season-high seven saves.
  • Senior midfielder Chelsea Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) and sophomore defender Talia Dellatto (Andover, Mass.) each tallied a game-high three caused turnovers apiece.
  • Burke also scooped up a game-best five ground balls.
  • Endicott trailed at halftime for the first time this season.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Mules are ranked No. 20 in the latest March 6 IWLCA DIII Coaches Poll.
  • Smith led the way with a game-best four goals to help the Mules to their first win of the seaosn.
  • Senior attack Lexie Perticone (Darien, Conn.) paced the offensive attack with a game-high five points as she recorded her first  hat trick of the season and added two assists (tied for team-high)
  • Freshman midfielder Grace Crowell (Medfield, Mass.) potted a pair of goals for her first two collegiate scores and also dished out two assists.
  • Junior midfielder Kelsey Bowen (Braintree, Mass.) buried two markers, while senior  midfielder Celeste Murtha (Natick, Mass.) and freshman attack Emma Banks (North Haven, Conn.) both contributed their first and second goals of the season, respectively.
  • Sophomore Izzy Scribano (Darien, Conn.) stopped six shots to improve to 1-1 in goal before giving way to junior Sam Burch (Mountain Lakes, N.J.).
  • Burch registered one save for the Mules in 5:24 minutes of action.

NOTES

  • Endicott is 0-6 against Colby in the all-time series, as the Mules won the most recent meeting before today, 16-4, in Waterville, Maine on March 21, 2013.

Endicott (2-1, 0-0 CCC)  goes on the road at Babson on Saturday, March 11 at 12:00 p.m. before departing for the Spring Break trip to Clermont, Fla.

No. 20 Colby (1-1, 0-1 NESCAC) hosts Trinity (Conn.) on Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m.
