Three Major Awards Highlight Eight Gulls Named To All-CCC Teams

CCC WOMEN'S LACROSSE ALL-CONFERENCE RELEASE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team is proud to recognize eight Gulls named to the 2017 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference teams, in addition to bringing home the Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year honors, as was announced earlier this afternoon by the conference office.

Sophomore goalkeeper Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year while landing on the First Team, freshman attack/midfielder Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) was honored as the Rookie of the Year as a fellow First Teamer, and head coach Morgan Maciewicz earned her first career Coach of the Year honor to round out Endicott's major award winners.

Senior attack Meghan Lennon (Canton, Mass.), senior midfielder Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.), and senior defender Chelsea Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) were the remaining Endicott trio on the All-CCC First Team, joining Rino and Lacroix.

Junior midfielder Olivia Larson (Cheshire, Conn.), sophomore midfielder Ali Campbell (Lakeville, Mass.), and sophomore defender Talia Dellatto (Andover, Mass.) garnered All-CCC Second Team selections.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Morgan Maciewicz

This is Coach Maciewicz's first career Coach of the Year honor. Maciewicz is 31-19 overall (20-4 CCC) in her third season at the helm of the Gulls' program that is in the hunt for the team's 10th title and her first as a head coach. Maciewicz became the fourth Endicott women's lacrosse coach to bestow the honor, and the ninth Endicott head coach to be selected as Coach of the Year in his or her respective sport this season alone.

ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM/ DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Bella Rino | So. | GK | Northborough, Mass.

Rino, a two-time CCC DPOW this season, became the sixth student-athlete (second consecutive) in Endicott women's lacrosse program history to be named Defensive Player of the Year. Rino is a perfect 8-0 in goal this season with eight starts and 13 appearances. She stopped a conference-best 64.1 percent of all shots faced with 75 saves and a CCC-best 5.20 goals against average in 484:47 minutes of action. Rino made a career-high 11 saves against Western New England on April 8th and combined for her first career shutout in the team's 16-0 win at Gordon on April 25th to highlight the season.

ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM/ ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Jennifer Lacroix | Fr. | A | Wrentham, Mass.

Lacroix became just the second student-athlete in Endicott women's lacrosse program history to be named Rookie of the Year, and first since Whitney bestowed the honor in 2014. Lacroix collected three consecutive CCC Rookie of the Week honors from April 3rd to April 17th, in addition to a CCC Offensive Player of the Week recognition on April 3rd. Lacroix is third on the team in points (47) for the most amongst rookies and tied for third overall in goals (32). Lacroix has scored the most free-position goals (11) for the Gulls and is tied for most goals for rookies. Additionally, she is fourth on the team in assists (15) for the most helpers among the Gulls' rookies. Lacroix leads the team in draw controls (72), which is good for fourth-most in the conference. She is second on the team in ground balls (28) and fourth in caused turnovers (14). Lacroix registered a career-high seven points (six goals, one assist) with a career-best 10 draw controls at the University of New England on March 29th.

ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM

Meghan Lennon | Sr. | A | Canton, Mass.

Lennon, now a two-time All-CCC First Team selection, returned to the field this season after missing all of last year due to injury. Lennon has started all 15 games for the Gulls thus far and currently leads the team in points (66), goals (41), and assists (25). Her 66 points is tied for the fifth-most in the CCC. Lennon paced the squad with a career-high eight points against Emerson on Senior Day on April 15th with four goals and a game-best/season-high four assists to match her career-best in a single game in that category. Additionally, Lennon is tied for the second the team with 41 draw controls and is third on the squad with 26 ground balls.

Emily Whitney | Sr. | A | Rye, N.H.

Whitney, a three-time All-CCC First Team honoree and the Gulls' only four-year member of an All-Conference team as a Second Team choice in 2015, adds to her lengthy list of career accolades. With 15 starts this season, she is currently second on the team in points (58) and goals (38), as well as is third in assists (20). Whitney leads the team with 43 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers. Statistically speaking, Whitney is fourth all-time in program history with 252 career points, fifth in goals (176), and fourth in assists (76). She also ranks second all-time in points per game (3.71), game-winning goals (13), man-up goals (9) and has led the Gulls in scoring goals in each of her first three seasons. Whitney, a two-time CCC Offensive Player of the Week this season, has tallied 10 multi-goal games on the year, including seven consecutive outings notching at least four goals. Of her 58 points (38 goals, 20 assists) this season, 40 points have come in the past seven games, including a season-high five goals on Senior Day against Emerson on April 15th to match her season-high with seven points.

Chelsea Burke | Sr. | D | Georgetown, Mass.

Burke, last season's CCC Defensive Player of the Year, is now a two-time All-CCC First Team choice and is currently third on the team in caused turnovers (17). As one of Endicott's four senior captains, Burke has started all 15 games and scored her lone goal of the season in the team's record-breaking victory at Wentworth (26-2) on April 3rd. Defensively, Burke's best statistical game this season came against No. 20 Colby in which she scooped up a career-high five ground balls and caused a season-high three turnovers in the effort to match her career-high.  

ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

Olivia Larson | Jr. | M | Cheshire, Conn.

Larson has started all 15 games for the Gulls this season and has chipped in 13 goals and three assists for 16 points. Larson's 41 draw controls, including a season-high seven against Gordon on April 25th, ranks tied for second-most on the team. Additionally, she has scooped up 16 ground balls and caused four turnovers. Larson notched a season-high three points with a hat trick at Western New England on April 8th.

Ali Campbell | So. | M | Lakeville, Mass.

Campbell, an All-CCC Third Teamer in 2016, has started all 15 games for the Gulls this season. With 16 goals and 22 assists, she is fifth on the team with 38 points and second on the squad in assists. Campbell also has collected 25 ground balls, won 13 draw controls, and caused eight turnovers. Campbell recorded her first career hat trick earlier this season on April 5th at Nichols. Then, she tallied a season-high five points against Gordon on April 25th as she scored twice and dished out a game-high three-assists to match her career-high in points both and assists in a single game.

Talia Dellatto | So. | M | Andover, Mass.

Dellatto is in her first season with the Gulls after transferring from Sacred Heart University. With starts in all 15 games this season, she is currently second on the team with 23 caused turnovers, including four games with three CT. Dellatto is sixth on the team with 21 ground balls, as she scooped up a season-high four GB at Wellesley on March 5th.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Gulls earned the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament after posting a 12-3 overall record and 8-0 undefeated ledger in CCC play. With one non-conference game remaining in the regular season. Endicott will travel to Babson Park, Mass. to take on the Babson Beavers on Saturday, April 29th at 4:00 p.m. in a final tune-up to get ready for the CCC Tournament next week. Endicott will host the winner of No. 4 Salve Regina/No. 5 Gordon in the CCC Semifinals on Wednesday, May 3rd at a time to be determined at Hempstead Stadium.
