Pair of Gulls earn NFCA All-Region
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College’s \#Jenna Bortolotti\# (Milton, Mass.) and \#Merry MacDonald\# (Braintree, Mass.) have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-New England Second Team, it was announced on Monday morning. Bortolotti and MacDonald helped guide the Gulls to a 28-12-1 record this year and the Blue and Green’s eighth-straight The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship.

\#Jenna Bortolotti\#, the 2010 TCCC Pitcher of the Year and All-TCCC First Team selection, posted a 20-7 mark this season – one win shy of the career-high 21 wins she posted in 2009. Bortolotti won 20 straight decisions after the Gulls returned from their Spring Break trip in Kissimmee, Fla. The junior posted a 1.84 ERA this season while striking out 108 batters in 167 innings pitched. Bortolotti held opponents to a .221 batting average while giving up only three homeruns and 58 runs (44 earned) this season. \#Jenna Bortolotti\# tossed her only no-hitter of the season back on April 2nd, allowing only one walk in a 15-0 victory over Eastern Nazarene. This is Bortolotti’s first selection to the NFCA Division III All-New England Team.

\#Merry MacDonald\# earned her second-consecutive selection to the NFCA All-New England Team after grabbing First Team honors in 2009. MacDonald graduates from the program as one of its most decorated players after an All-TCCC Second Team selection in 2010 as well as being named the 2010 TCCC Senior Scholar Athlete. Along with her NFCA First Team selection in 2009, MacDonald was also named the 2009 TCCC Player of the Year as well as an All-TCCC First Team member. MacDonald was a 2008 All-TCCC Honorable Mention as well.

This year, MacDonald led the Gulls in batting average (.397), runs scored (33), hits (54), triples (2), stolen bases (22), plate appearances (152), and games played (41). \#Merry MacDonald\# was also top-five on the team in slugging percentage at .478, third in on-base percentage at .443, second in RBI with 21, while also finishing second in total bases (65) and fifth in walks (12). MacDonald was also very effective in the field, posting a .959 fielding percentage and leading the team in assists (94) and fielding double plays (4).
