KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A sacrifice fly from \#Katherine McGann\# (Topsfield, Mass.) in the bottom of the seventh helped the Endicott College softball team secure a 4-3 win over Trinity Christian College on Tuesday afternoon in Kissimmee, Fla. The Gulls (3-3) were shutout in their game earlier in the day as William Paterson University defeated the Blue and Green, 2-0.

In game one against the Pioneers, \#Merry MacDonald\# (Braintree, Mass.) went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and \#Megan Downey\# (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) went 2-for-3, but the Gulls came away scoreless in the game. \#Jenna Bortolotti\# (Milton, Mass.) dropped to 0-3 this season despite going six innings and giving up only one earned run on seven hits but issued four walks in the game. The Gulls had a chance to grab an early 1-0 lead, but \#Jenna Lazar\# (Milton, Mass.) was called out for leaving early on a sac-fly attempt and the Gulls never recovered.

William Paterson’s Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J.) held Endicott to only six hits on the day and added an RBI double in the third inning to help defeat the Gulls. The Pioneers Lindsey Nadolney (Belford, N.J.) and Heather Mendez (Basking Ridge, N.J. each went 2-for-2 at the dish as well. The other Pioneer run came unearned in the bottom of the first inning when an error by Gail LeBrun (Rowley, Mass.) allowed William Paterson to strike first blood. Vitale’s RBI double in the third inning helped put away the Gulls for good.

In game two of the day, Endicott fell behind 1-0 after the first half inning of play but responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half to take a 2-1 lead on a 2 RBI triple from \#Hayley Hovhanessian\# (Farmington, Conn.). The Trolls knotted the game at two on an RBI ground out by Kendra VanderSluis (Wyoming, Mich.) in the top of half of the second.

\#Megan Downey\# gave the Gulls a 3-2 lead on an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth but Trinity Christian tied the game again in the top of the sixth as Allison Cable (Lansing, Ill.) stroked an RBI single to left field that scored Mary Jones (LaGrange, Ill.). The Gulls could not respond in their half of the sixth but \#Kayla Carignan\# (Laconia, N.H.) sat the Trolls down in order in the seventh with the score tied at three.

The Gulls’ half of the seventh began with Downey reaching on an error followed by a Lazar single. \#Merry MacDonald\# singled to load the bases and \#Katherine McGann\# stepped to the plate and skied a flyball to centerfield that was deep enough for Downey to score and sent Endicott home with their second win in the team’s last at bat in three days.

Hovhanessian led the Gulls by going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. Five other Gulls each added a base hit with Downey and McGann adding the other two RBI. \#Kayla Carignan\# improved to 3-0 this season by going seven innings and giving up eight hits and two earned runs.

The Trolls were led by three hits from Nicole Stuczynski (Burbank, Ill.) and an RBI each from Cara McCoy (Winfield, Ill.), Cable and Vandersluis. Jessica Franco (Schiller Park, Ill.) took the loss for Trinity Christian while going 6.2 innings while scattering seven hits and giving up three earned runs.
