Endicott selected top team in Preseason Poll
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The seven-time defending champion Endicott College softball team has been selected as the preseason favorite according to the 2010 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Softball Preseason Poll as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Thursday afternoon. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league’s head softball coaches.

Endicott (38-9, 23-1) received 11 of the 13 first-place votes in the 2010 TCCC preseason poll. Western New England was selected by the coaches as the runner-up in the conference and one first-place vote. Roger Williams was slotted third, while Salve Regina was picked to finish fourth and received the remaining first-place vote. Curry was selected to finish fifth by the coaches.

The Gulls had a very successful 2009 campaign as the Blue and Green strung together winning-streaks of 10 and 16 games. After dropping their second game of the TCCC Playoffs, Endicott won three games in one day en route to capturing its seventh consecutive TCCC Championship. The Gulls played host to an NCAA Regional site where the Gulls went 1-2 and lost to eventual Regional runner-up Springfield College.

Teams received 13 points for every first place vote received, 12 points for second place votes, 11 points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
