Box Score - Game Two
MILTON, Mass. - Endicott College captured both ends of a doubleheader, 14-3 and 8-3, over Curry College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference softball action Tuesday afternoon in Milton, Mass. The Gulls improved to 18-10 overall and 11-5 in TCCC play, while the Colonels fell to 13-14 overall and 8-6 in league action.
In game one, the visitors scored at least one run in all seven innings off Curry starter Amanda Peters (East Bridgewater, Mass.). Among the big blows for Endicott were a two-run double by junior \#Hayley Hovhanessian\# (Farmington, Conn.) in the fourth and a three-run home run by freshman \#Nicole Devlin\# (Dudley, Mass.) in the seventh.
The Colonels got all three of their runs in the fifth, two of which came on a pair of bases-loaded walks issued by Gulls' starter \#Jenna Bortolotti\# (Milton, Mass.).
Endicott pounded out 14 hits, including three each from \#Jenna Lazar\# (Milton, Mass.) and \#Katherine McGann\# (Topsfield, Mass.). Curry got multi-hit games from senior Kristen Jackman (Stoughton, Mass.), junior Janelle Mayo (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Amanda Felzmann (Bellingham, Mass.).
Bortolotti picked up her 10th straight win, improving to 10-5 on the season, while Peters (4-8) absorbed the loss.
In game two, the Colonels jumped out to a two-run, first-inning lead, but were held scoreless for the remainder of the game by Gulls' freshman \#Kayla Carignan\# (Laconia, N.H.). A two-run home run by Peters gave the hosts their temporary 3-1 edge.
Endicott tied the game in the second, and took the lead for good in the fourth as McGann and junior Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) each plated a run.
Lazar added three more hits to her total on the day, matched in the nightcap by freshman \#Krista Fales\# (Melrose, Mass.), who also had three hits. Felzmann went 2-for-4 for the Colonels, bringing her two-game total to four hits in seven at-bats.
Carignan upped her record to 8-4, scattering nine hits over seven innings while walking just one. Mayo saw her season mark dip to 7-4 after allowing 12 hits, three walks and five earned runs over her seven frames of work.
The Blue and Green, winners of eight-straight, return to action when the Gulls travel to Springfield, Mass. for a TCCC showdown with first place Western New England College in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. Curry also returns to action on Thursday when the Colonels take on Salve Regina University in conference twinbill in Newport, R.I. at 4:00 p.m.
