BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College’s \#Jenna Bortolotti\# (Milton, Mass.) tossed five innings of no-hit ball in a 15-0 win over Eastern Nazarene College in game one of a TCCC doubleheader held in Beverly, Mass. The Lions responded in game two, edging the Gulls 2-1. With the split, Endicott moves to 9-9 and 4-4 in the TCCC while Eastern Nazarene improves to 2-10 and 1-3 in league games.

Eight different Gulls recorded an RBI and 11 different batters had a hit as the Gulls cruised to a 15-0 win in game one. Endicott scored seven runs in the top of the first as the Lions made four errors in the inning. \#Katherine McGann\# (Topsfield, Mass.), \#Ashley Wright\# (Merrimack, N.H.), \#Sarah Spaziano\# (Norton, Mass.) and \#Nicole Devlin\# (Dudley, Mass.) each drove in runs while \#Jill Wiseman\# (Holden, Mass.) picked up her first triple of the season in the inning.

That would be all the offense Bortolotti would need as the junior pitcher did not allow a base runner until the top of the third inning when Vera Abbott (Sumner, Maine) drew a leadoff walk. Bortolotti promptly forced three groundouts to get out of the inning. The Gulls tacked on eight more runs in the final three innings while Jenna Bortolotti retired the final nine batters she faced for the win.

The Gulls were led by a 3-for-3 day and two RBI from Spaziano while \#Merry MacDonald\# (Braintree, Mass.), \#Katelyn Soja\# (Chicopee, Mass.), \#Nicole Devlin\# and \#Krista Fales\# had a pair of hits and an RBI apiece. Bortolotti improved to 3-6 this season by going five innings, giving up the one walk and striking out three.

Hannah Moore (Sheridan, Calif.) suffered the setback for the Lions as she only lasted 0.1 innings, giving up three hits and three earned runs before leaving due to injury.

In game two, Endicott scored the first run in the bottom of the second when \#Sarah Spaziano\# scored on an error by Jacqueline Tierney (Taunton, Mass.). Eastern Nazarene responded in the top of the fourth as Tierney redeemed her earlier gaffe with a double to left center and advanced to third on a single by Amber Burns (Fall River, Mass.). Tierney would score when the Gulls caught Amber Burns stealing and could not get the ball back to the plate in time to cut down Tierney.

The Lions pushed the go-ahead run across in the next inning as Vera Abbott led off with a single over the thirdbaseman’s head and was sacrificed to second by Jamie Block (Pembroke, Mass.). Abbott advanced to third on a groundout and with two outs in the inning, Bethany Greenfield (Parsippany, N.J.) hit a rocket to third that Merry MacDonald fielded on a dive. MacDonald’s throw was a little low and firstbaseman \#Krista Fales\# had the ball fall out of her glove, allowing Abbott to score in the backdoor and take a 2-1 lead for the Lions.

Endicott had several chances to either tie the game or take the lead as they had runners in scoring position in the final three innings. In the bottom of the fifth and with a runner on third, MacDonald hit a laser to left centerfield that Christine Tucker (Antioch, Calif.) tracked down on the run to end the inning. In the sixth, \#Hayley Hovhanessian\# (Farmington, Conn.) doubled in the gap with two outs, but pinch hitter \#Nicole Devlin\# struck out swinging to end the threat. Finally, in their last at-bat, \#Merry MacDonald\# came to the plate again with two runners on and hit a groundball into the hole that Bethany Greenfield fielded and flipped to third to end the game.

\#Katherine McGann\# led the Gulls in game two by going 2-for-4 out of the DH spot. \#Megan Downey\# (Ballston Lake, N.Y.), \#Sarah Spaziano\# and Hovhanessian recorded the other three hits for the Gulls. Endicott’s \#Lyndsey Martins\# (Cumberland, R.I.) fell to 0-1 this season despite giving up only four hits and one earned run in seven innings.

Amber Burns went a perfect 2-for-2 in the game to lead the Lions while Tierney and Abbott each went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Jamie Block (Pembroke, Mass.) improved to 2-2 this season by going seven innings and scattering five hits while allowing only one unearned run.

The Blue and Green return to action on Tuesday as the Gulls travel to Newport, R.I. for a crucial TCCC doubleheader with Salve Regina scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Nazarene will travel to the University of New England on Saturday for a conference doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m.
