BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott field hockey student-athletes Lily Farnham (Andover, Mass.), Maddy Young (Hingham, Mass.) and Riley Perkins (Lakeville, Mass.) have swept the Conference of New England's (CNE) weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Farnham has been named the CNE Offensive Player of the Week, while Young has garnered Defensive Player of the Week recognition, and Perkins was honored as Rookie of the Week.
LILY FARNHAM, OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In Endicott's 2-1 victory over Western New England, Farnham scored the game-winning goal with 10 minutes to play. The goal was the junior's first career game-winning goal and helped the Gulls clinch an undefeated conference regular season and the No. 1 seed in the CNE tournament.
This is Farnham's first career Offensive Player of the Week award.
MADDY YOUNG, DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In Endicott's 2-1 win over Western New England, Young helped keep the Golden Bears off the scoreboard early in the contest with her 11th defensive save of the year. The DS came on WNE's first shot of the game. With the Gulls trailing 1-0 in the second half, Young was part of a midfield unit that controlled the play and held Western New England to zero shots and zero penalty corners in the second half as the Gulls would come back to clinch an undefeated conference regular season and the No. 1 seed.
This marks her first career CNE Defensive Player of the Week award.
RILEY PERKINS, ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Perkins was part of a defensive unit that helped limit a Western New England that averages over two goals per game to just one as Endicott secured the come-from-behind 2-1 win. In the second half as the Gulls trailed 1-0, the Perkins and the Endicott defense held Western New England to zero shots and zero penalty corners.
Perkins has been named CNE Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career.
