Field Hockey Bests Wellesley, 5-0

WELLESLEY, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team defeated Wellesley, 5-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday night at Butler Stadium.

Endicott scored in every period to earn its fifth road victory of the season (5-2).

In the first quarter, Gulls' senior defender Maddy Young (Hingham, Mass.) blasted home her first collegiate goal at 12:16 to jumpstart the visitors. 

Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) initiated the tally with a perfect penalty corner insert to the top of the circle before Young ripped a shot through traffic into the lower right corner of the cage.

From there, Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) buried two markers (35:19, 58:30), while Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) and Kathleen Reissfelder (Westwood, Mass.) scored in the second and third periods (29:20, 43:35), respectively.

Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) improved to 7-1 overall with six saves (2nd career shutout).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 4-1 all-time against Wellesley.
  • The Gulls have won the last four meetings, outscoring the Blue 13-0 during that span.
  • Hicks registered her first multi-goal game of the season (third career).
  • Lily Farnham (Andover, Mass.) notched her third career assist when she swept the final pass on a penalty corner opportunity to Hicks on the left wing for the wide-open strike.
  • Reissfelder inserted the penalty corner to Young on the right wing before finding Farnham at the top of the arc, all three passes were tape-to-tape.

Endicott (10-4) visits Colby on Sunday, October 20 at 1 PM. Wellesley (9-5) travels to Smith this Saturday at 12 PM.
