NORTON, Mass. - The Endicott field hockey team shutout non-conference opponent Wheaton (Mass.), 5-0, on Tuesday evening at Diane Nordin '80 Athletic Field.
Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) and Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) highlighted the attack for the Gulls scoring two goals apiece in the contest.
Kathleen Reissfelder (Westwood, Mass.) got the scoring started for the Gulls less than three minutes into the game off a feed from Dengler. The Winchester, Mass. native then scored her first goal at the 14:22 mark giving the Gulls a 2-0 lead heading to the second quarter with the assist going to Grace Gervais (Andover, Mass.).
The score stayed 2-0 all the way to halftime but Dengler potted her second of the contest just 38 seconds into the third quarter making it 3-0. Swanson's ninth and 10th goals of the season in the third and fourth quarters clinched the victory.
Defensively, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.), Caroline Harvey (Dover, Mass.), and Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) combined for the shutout.
DeMattia played the first half, while Harvey and Minickene backstopped the Gulls in the last two periods, respectively, with Harvey making two saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls are now 10-2 all-time versus Wheaton (Mass.).
- First goal of the season for Reissfelder.
- Second multi-goal game of the season for Dengler.
- First assist and point of Gervais' career.

Endicott (3-3) opens up Conference of New England (CNE) play as they travel to UNE on Saturday, September 21 at 12 PM. Wheaton (Mass.) takes on conference opponent Wellesley College on Saturday, September 21 at 12 PM.
