Farnham's Game-Winner Secures Field Hockey's Victory over Western New England, 2-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team defeated Western New England, 2-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) tied the game in the third quarter off a feed from Kathleen Reissfelder (Westwood, Mass.). The tally was her 27th of the season. 

Then halfway through the fourth quarter, Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) found Lily Farnham (Andover, Mass.) in the middle of the circle and Farnham slotted home the game-winner. 

The Gulls defense then held the Western New England offense off the board the rest of the way, allowing zero shots. 

In goal, Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) made three saves to improve to 11-1 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls conclude the regular season with the top seed in the CNE. They will play in the CNE Semifinal on Wednesday, November 6.
  • The victory secured Endicott's fourth conference undefeated regular season. 
  • First game-winner of Farnham's career.
  • Swanson's 27 goals are second all-time for goals in a season. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (14-4, 5-0 CNE) will play in the CNE Semifinal versus an opponent TBD on Wednesday, November 6 at home on North Field. Western New England (10-7, 3-2 CNE) will also be in the CNE Semifinal on Wednesday with an opponent TBD.
